Executive Coaching is primarily centered on a person's professional life, and the refinement of leadership skills, stress management capabilities, preparedness for a new role or promotion and understanding the impact of one's actions on employees and staff members. It can extend beyond individual leaders to include teams and groups, fostering improved teamwork, communication, and collective performance.
Career Coaching provides guidance to individuals on career choices, professional development, and job-seeking strategies to achieve their career goals. They assist clients in navigating their career paths, addressing a wide array of areas such as making a career change, preparing job applications, negotiating offers, or reflecting on the effectiveness of their current role.
Life coaching typically involves working with clients outside of an organizational setting. Individuals often engage a coach to maximize both their professional and personal potential by setting goals, and achieving their individual aspirations.
Prospective clients should inquire about the coach's tenure in the field, the number of engagements they have successfully completed, and their overall track record of achieving desired outcomes.
The "chemistry" between a coach and client is paramount for a successful engagement. Ensure that you feel comfortable with your coach. Effective coaches are engaging, create a supportive, trusting and safe environment, possess active listening skills and you can envision working closely with them for an extended period of time. For executive coaching, understanding the organizational culture is also key.
Regarding credentials, it is advisable to inquire about their learning journey, commitment to continuous professional development, and whether they hold coaching certifications from reputable bodies like the Center for Credentialing Education (CCE ) or the International Coach Federation (ICF).
HR Consulting engagements can be varied in length, depending on the project. They may last a few days, a few months or go on intermittently for a longer period of time to cover large scale projects or extended leaves.
Coaching engagements are usually set for a specific time frame ( 3, 6 or 12 month timeframes) with the objective of achieving agreed upon goals and milestones. There are also retainer arrangements where a Coach may be available for longer time periods dependent on the need of the client.
Every engagement is different and fees are established after a comprehensive review and scope of the project with the client. Fees can be hourly or packaged as part of a longer term all inclusive engagement. Costs could include administration and facilitation of various psychometric assessments, group meetings or other additional services requested by a client.
